Pre-Departure Course: Decolonizing Global Health

ABSTRACT
This pre-departure course teaches about the history of global health as a tool for colonial powers, how the field’s underlying tenants of colonialism persist today, and how one can prepare themselves so that they do not continue imperial power dynamics during their volunteer period.

The themes discussed in this course mainly pertain to volunteers traveling from the global north to the global south, however, we encourage all to take this course as it offers an innovative approach to stopping the reinforcement of oppressive power structures.organizaciones de sociedad civil y personas interesadas en la lucha contra la tuberculosis en Latinoamerica y el Caribe.
